The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) - with support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation - is organizing a workshop discussing Sustainable non-sewered sanitation systems. These toilets not only don’t need sewers, water connection or electricity but also remove pathogens. One of the other great advantages of the toilets is that they cost less than 5 cents per user.
Therefor, the goal of the workshop is to create an international standard which is applicable to all sanitation systems that are sustainable and meet the requirements.
Recently, the Dutch Toilet Organisation has been invited to a meeting with NEN, an organisation in the Netherlands responsible for standardization processes, where the topic was participation in workshop and introducing the Dutch perspective. It is a great honor for us that we can represent the Dutch Toilet Organisation among more than 40 international organisations.
